Muscat, October 19, 2024 — Omantel successfully concluded its highly anticipated Extended Reality Bootcamp, a five-day event that brought together some of the brightest youth tech minds from across Oman. Delivered by the Omantel Innovation Labs, Omantel’s startup support arm, the bootcamp was held at Omantel HQ from October 6th to October 10th, with the aim to foster innovation and cultivate a thriving community of Extended Reality (XR) enthusiasts.

Muscat – June 7, 2023: Omantel, the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman, has invested in byanat's Seed Funding Round to expand the provision of data analytics solutions through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) analytics platform for telecommunications operators and service providers. The funding round featured participation from 500 Global in collaboration with Sanabil Investments, an investment fund owned by the Public Investments Fund (PIF) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Al Jabr MENA, a startup development and innovation firm. This funding is set to expedite byanat's technology and product development and enable entry into the Saudi market.

Muscat, 24 OCT, 2022: Omantel, the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman, has launched an in-house program for employees who submit innovative ideas that could be converted into solutions or projects, offering them rewards like the opportunity to join a world-class accelerator, potentially gain funding, and get one year of paid or unpaid leave.

Muscat – 13th September 2022: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) on Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 at Omantel Headquarters to conduct an Accelerator Program in order to enable fintech startups in the Sultanate of Oman. 

The winning idea, from two young Omanis, Ammar Al Badi and Khalad Al Badi, was selected from 170 ideas that were submitted the Omantel Big Data hackathon, which was held from January 26 to 29. The event was open to all ideas on big data for the telecommunication industry with a focus on five key areas: 1. data monetization 2. Predictive analytics 3. Customer engagement 4. Lifetime value prediction 5. Customer sentiment analysis.

Muscat - February 22, 2023: AirGo, an Omani startup in Cohort 2 of Omantel Innovation Labs, is set for expansion into the promising market of Saudi Arabia, with the signing of an investment agreement with Forming Future to raise $2.7 million seed round.

Omantel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to foster thought leadership and technology innovation initiatives through the Omantel Innovation Labs.
