The Omantel Innovation Labs is a dedicated unit within Omantel created to foster innovation and entrepreneurship within Oman and Omantel. The aim is to provide startups, entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts with the tools, resources and mentorship needed to develop innovative solutions within the fields of telecommunications, digital transformation and emerging technologies.

We work with Omani technology startups at early stages providing them with relevant support and resources from Omantel and its vast network. Our focus is particularly on startups operating within IoT, 5G, Cybersecurity, Big Data, Customer Experience Technology, Fintech and AI.

Yes, other sectors will be considered depending on synergy with Omantel’s objectives.

The Omantel Accelerator is one of the programs within the Omantel Innovation Labs. It is a 6-month acceleration program that aims to catalyze the rapid growth of innovative technology startups in Oman and de-risk them across multiple stages of their lifecycle through mentorship, networks and fundraising support.

Applications must be submitted online. Applications will be open for few weeks followed by a filtration process to identify up to 10 startups per cohort that are most suitable for the program. The opening of applications will be announced to our mailing list and across our social media channels.

Startups enrolled in all Omantel Innovation Labs programs will have access to potential investment from Omantel’s joint fund with Future Fund Oman. Acceptance into the program is not a guarantee for investment.

The Omantel Accelerator Program is open to all startups from Oman and outside, provided that non-Omani startups have an executable Omani angle.

Our programs are designed to support scalable businesses with high growth potential in their product development, commercialization, and fundraising. Ideally, your startup should have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that can be developed through the program. Applications for startups outside of those parameters will be considered depending on synergies with Omantel’s objectives.

Yes, you can still apply. However, we do not recommend it. Entrepreneurship is a long and steep path, and it is always better to have a co-founder.

Our investment focus is stage-agnostic, and we evaluate startups based on their current stage and progress, employing methodologies used by venture capitalists.

At the moment, startups can only receive investment by going the acceleration program, subject to OTF’s investment committee approval.

Our program lasts for 6 months. Each cohort culminates in Demo Day whereby the startups present their refined pitches to the local startup ecosystem as well as some international investors.

Yes, to maximize the benefit from the program we asked startups to be onsite.

Our typical program structure includes three months of intensive mentorship sessions followed by three months of aftercare. The mentorship component is built upon three core pillars: technical feasibility, financial viability, and market desirability, alongside other soft skills that would be important to the founders. We have over 200 mentors worldwide who can provide support to our startups in various capacities, for example: group sessions, 1-on-1 mentorship, etc.

The aftercare component focuses on product testing, industry connections, investor connections and data room improvement.
