Muscat - March 21, 2023: Omantel, the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman, has sealed a partnership deal with Wingu Group’s Djibouti Data Centre to expand into the African market and further boost its standing as a leading regional wholesale hub.  

 

Wingu Group’s Djibouti Data Center was the first and only carrier neutral data center facility in East Africa with access to all major international fiber optic systems connecting Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific regions with Africa. 

Muscat - March 13, 2023:  Omantel and UAE’s du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), have come together to link the Sultanate of Oman and UAE through a newly activated 275km international fibre optic submarine cable named the Oman Emirates Gateway (OEG) that will meet the evolving market demands, scale up speed, expand connectivity, deliver enhanced customer experience and provide wider commercial offerings.  

 

Oman and UAE are currently connected through terrestrial and submarine routes. The new cable system of OEG will serve as an express connection between both countries and the partnership will reiterate Omantel’s and du’s position as leading wholesale players supporting the region to evolve into the new promising global communication hub.  

Muscat - November 9, 2022: Omantel, the leading provider of integrated telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman, is set to host the 8th annual Global Carrier Community Meeting (GCCM) in Muscat from November 13 to 15, 2022, to be attended by more than 500 club members and decision makers from over 300 operators representing 50 countries.

 

Organized by Carrier Community (CC), Omantel is set to host the global event for the second time after its successful hosting of the 2019 edition in Muscat. The conference is considered one of the largest telecom gatherings, especially on the wholesale front. 

Muscat - July 27, 2022: Omantel has emerged winner in two categories at the CC-Global Awards 2022, presented by the Carrier Community, which is one of the most active and prestigious forums in the wholesale industry. The awards were recently presented in Berlin. 

 

Omantel won in the Middle East Best Regional Operator and Best Regional Data Centre Operator categories, reiterating its regional wholesale prominence and capabilities that have contributed towards making Oman a strategic point in the global communications domain. 

The Parties enter into one of the Biggest Capacity Deals in the Region to Complement the Highly Anticipated Oman Australia Cable 

 

Muscat, Oman and Brisbane, Australia – May XX, 2022 – Oman Telecommunications Company [Omantel], Oman's first and leading integrated telecommunications services provider and SUB.CO [SUB.CO] have recently entered into a large capacity agreement for connectivity between Oman and various key telecom hubs in Europe through Omantel’s extensive subsea network. Through this arrangement, Omantel will be providing ultra-high capacity connectivity from Muscat to SUB.CO’s new PoP’s in London, Milan and Marseille effectively extending the Oman Australia Cable (OAC), due to be RFS in Q3, 2022, from Australia to Oman and all the way to Europe.

With the 5G mobile service, Omantel’s customers will be able to enjoy high speed and seamless connectivity while abroad

The Agreement is another Important Milestone Achieved in the Strategic Partnership between the Parties Omantel will utilize satellite services to expand and enhance its mobile network backhauling

 

Space Communication Technologies Company (SCT) and Oman Telecommunication Company (Omantel) have signed an agreement to provide Satellite Communication to the different verticals in the Omani market. Omantel will utilize the satellite services using the state-of-the-art technologies on Ka-Band from the SCT’s satellite Earth Station located in Omantel’s Al Amerat Teleport on the Omani Satellite payload on Arabsat6A @ 30.5 E. Omantel will use this service to expand and enhance its reach for mobile network backhauling, in addition to providing connectivity services to their end-customers in different regions across the Sultanate.
